PRECISION RAIL COMPONENTS
AND PRESSINGS MANUFACTURER.
FDL manufactures pressed components, stampings and welded assemblies for rail applications where consistency, strength and repeatability are essential. Our capability supports structural and non-structural parts, including components suited to demanding operational environments.
From development parts to production supply, we deliver parts and assemblies built around robust manufacturing processes and controlled quality standards. Presswork, welding and assembly can be combined to create line-ready components and reduce complexity in the supply chain.
From our Birmingham facility, our press range of 25 to 800 tonnes produces rail components in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and high-strength steels – covering interior fittings, structural components, infrastructure parts and maintenance replacement components. We supply both new-build rolling stock programmes and MRO requirements for in-service fleets.
The UK rail industry demands components manufactured to rigorous specifications and delivered with the consistency and traceability that safety-critical applications require. FDL’s teams are committed to meeting these standards on every rail component we supply.
SUPPORTING RAIL
PROGRAMMES AND COMPONENTS
We manufacture high-precision rail components, durable railway stampings, and fully integrated welded assemblies for global rolling stock manufacturers, rail infrastructure contractors, and MRO organisations. Supporting the rail sector from initial development and prototyping through to high-volume, long-term series supply, we deliver engineering solutions that meet the industry’s uncompromising demands for safety and reliability.
Our comprehensive capabilities span a diverse range of applications, including complex interior fittings, heavy-duty structural components, and resilient trackside fixings. We work expertly across a variety of materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, lightweight aluminium, and high-strength steels. By combining our advanced pressing technology with certified precision welding and full mechanical sub-assembly services, we supply complete, line-ready modules that streamline your production. Every component we deliver is backed by the stringent material traceability, robust quality control, and rigorous dimensional certification that modern rail programmes require.

Rolling stock interior pressings
Grab handles, seat frame components, floor pressings and interior fittings for passenger and freight vehicles – produced to consistent tolerances for straightforward line-side installation.

Bodywork and structural components
Cab and body panels, structural reinforcements and protective pressings for rolling stock exteriors – produced from mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel to meet vehicle specification and long-term service demands.

Infrastructure and trackside fixings
Brackets, mounting plates and structural fixings for station, platform and trackside infrastructure – including signal equipment housings, OLE fixings and depot equipment components.
