Our sustainability and responsibility programme builds on the values Frank Dudley established when he founded the business in 1948 – values of quality, honesty and genuine care for people. Today, we apply those values to the environmental and social challenges facing manufacturing – working continuously to reduce our footprint, improve our practices and support the communities around us.

We believe that sustainable manufacturing and commercial success are not in conflict. Done properly, they reinforce each other – and that is the approach we take.

FDL’s approach to sustainability is practical and genuine. We focus on the areas where we can make the most meaningful difference, reducing material waste, improving energy efficiency, supporting our workforce and contributing positively to our local community.

  • Metal recycling focus. Our metal offcuts, swarf and scrap are recycled through certified routes.
  • 75+ years heritage. A sustainable family business built for long-term success.
  • Apprenticeships & training. Investing in the next generation of manufacturing professionals.
  • Local Birmingham roots. Supporting local communities and the West Midlands manufacturing sector.

We are honest about where we are on our sustainability journey. We have made meaningful progress and we have more to do, and we are committed to making that progress transparently and genuinely, not just in our communications.

Energy & emissions

We are actively reviewing our energy sources and consumption patterns, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions across our facility. Investment in more energy-efficient press equipment and facility improvements is ongoing.

Circular economy

We are committed to maximising the recyclability of materials we use and minimising landfill waste. All metal scrap from our operations is recycled through certified processors.

People & community

We continue to invest in apprenticeships and skills development, supporting the next generation of manufacturing professionals in Birmingham. Community partnerships and charitable support remain an important part of who we are.

Quality is fundamental to everything Frank Dudley Limited does. From the machinery we invest in to the training we provide our teams, every decision is made with one goal: delivering components our customers can rely on.

Our commitment to quality is backed by accreditation, rigorous process controls and a culture of continuous improvement that runs through every level of the business. We get it right first time — and we keep getting it right, batch after batch, year after year.
